These programs lead to a national credential, preparing you for the workplace.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a substantial portion of the 30 fastest growing jobs are directly related to the healthcare field.  Many of those jobs do not require a four year degree and can be found in our classes below.  But if you decide you want to pursue a higher degree, you can make a good living and do more than just pay your bills. There are lots of different opportunities in healthcare – something for everyone. You can work in physician offices, labs, nursing homes or directly with patients in hospitals, homes, or clinics.   • Advanced Skills for the CNA Professional

    Licensed Certified Nurse Assistants are eligible to take this course that provides training and certification in Patient Care Technician. Topics covered include basic vital signs, basic medical terminology, phlebotomy and EKG training. Meet the changing demands and additional employment opportunities in the healthcare industry. This program prepares students to take the National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam for Phlebotomy and EKG.

  • Central Service Technician

    As a Central Service Technician, you will provide vital support in all patient care services and be responsible for knowing all of the tools used in an operating room, as well as sterilizing and packaging instruments used during surgery. Our training program will provide you with 120 hours of instruction and a 400-hour externship opportunity. You will learn principles of cleaning and processing equipment, methods of sterilization and disinfection, packaging and storage, maintenance of equipment, inventory control, basic surgical instrument identification and more.

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

    Medical Assistants are highly trained individuals who perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties in both primary care and specialty offices, urgent care centers and other healthcare facilities. Clinical duties can include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, assisting the physician during exams, injection, venipunctures and ECGs. Upon successful completion of all classroom hours, students will complete an 8-hour externship at a local healthcare facility.

    CNA Course Nurse Assistants aid in the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of clients. CNAs work in health care settings such as hospitals, home care, nursing homes or assisted-living facilities. Students learn basic care skills including monitoring vital signs, controlling infections, transferring and feeding clients as well as the Heimlich maneuver. Communication skills, body mechanics, bed making, restorative care and care of the dying client are among topics covered.

  • CPR for Health Care Provider

    This course is for health care professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life-support skills in both hospital and outpatient care settings. Students train in recognizing life-threatening emergencies in adult, child and infant patients; giving high-quality chest compressions, delivering appropriate ventilations and providing early use of an AED. It also covers the use of BVM, pocket masks and relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims.

  • CPR Re-Certification: BLS Provider

    Re-certification course for individuals currently holding a valid GL2015 “BLS Provider" (Health Care Provider level) credential. Students MUST produce credentials prior to class start. Students receive abbreviated review/training in recognizing/treating Cardiac Arrest in adult, child, and infant patients; by providing high-quality chest compressions, delivering appropriate ventilations and providing early use of an AED in sing and multiple rescuer situations. Also included is the use of the Bag-Mask and Pocket Mask, and relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims of all ages.

    The Computerized Tomography (CT) program is for Registered Radiologic technologists. The curriculum consists of a 3-hour classroom lecture each week for 20 weeks with lectures taught by Renee Graves, an experienced and respected educator. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 16 hours per week in a clinical site.

  • Direct Support Professional Program

    The Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate course will teach best practices for the DSP in relationship to state regulations and state-level requirements for this profession. By combining the College of Direct Support (CDS) and the NJ DSP Competencies in this in-depth course of study, the Direct Support Professional Training Course will be able to ensure that they are supporting personal autonomy, access to integrated settings, informed choices, and person-centered practices for the individuals they will serve.

  • EMT Training Program

    This program meets all of the required National EMS Education Standards for training Emergency Medical Technicians. Students will be required to read their textbook as well as successfully complete detailed online course work every week and attend one night of classroom practical skills instruction per week, in addition to several Wednesday sessions during the program. In addition to the class sessions, students will be scheduled for clinical experiences in 9-1-1 dispatch centers, in both basic and advanced care EMS units, and in a hospital.

    Whether you are looking to educate yourself or obtain the basic training you will need to work in a medical cannabis dispensary; this class will get you started. Tailored specifically to New Jersey, this 5-module,15-hour class will teach you about the human body’s endocannabinoid system, the basics of cultivation and different cultivars, an introduction to processing and different products available in New Jersey and elsewhere, and specifics of working in a New Jersey cannabis dispensary and how to assist NJ medical marijuana patients.     This course combines the basics of medical coding, medical billing and medical terminology to provide a comprehensive program that will prepare you to work as a medical coding and billing specialist in a professional office. In this course, you will learn about the necessary medical terminology, insurance guidelines and compliance requirements, medical billing functions, and legal and ethical issues. Upon completion of this course, students will be fully prepared to begin working in a professional medical office.

  • MRI Program

    The MRI Program is available to radiologic technologists who want to enhance their careers in advanced imaging. To be eligible for this program you must have graduated from an accredited radiography program and passed the ARRT Certification Examination. The course consists of both didactic and clinical components. Students will meet once a week for 2.5 - 3-hours live online (Zoom) and complete a minimum of 16 hours per week in a clinical site.

  • Patient Care Technician Program

    The Patient Care Technician course teaches the technical skills necessary to service complex patient personal care issues including basic bedside care, collection of laboratory specimens, rehabilitation services, phlebotomy and EKGs. The Patient Care Technician works alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers to help oversee and monitor patients. This training course will provide the healthcare worker with the basic medical knowledge and hands on skills necessary to perform direct patient care and technical diagnostic testing. This program prepares students to take the National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam and includes a program clinical to provide practical experience.

  • Peer Recovery Specialist

    ​This certificate program is designed to meet the training requirements of the State Credential “Certified Peer Recovery Specialist” or CPRS. According to the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of NJ, Inc., Certified Peer Recovery Specialists give non-clinical assistance to help fellow peers in their recovery from alcohol and drug use related problems through Advocacy, Mentoring and Education, Recovery and Wellness Support, using the established ethical principles and training.​​

  • Pharmacy Technician

    This program is comprised of 80 hours of classroom instruction and practical clinical experience. It provides students with the technical knowledge and fundamental principles of pharmacy practice within retail or hospital setting. It also enables students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination and obtain an entry-level position as a pharmacy technician. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions and inventory control.

  • Phlebotomy Program

    The Phlebotomy Technician Program is broken up into 2 courses: Phlebotomy I and Phlebotomy II. Phlebotomy I is a 90-hour lecture and lab course that provides the first step to preparing for a career as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. The program begins with the healthcare delivery system, collection of materials and equipment, venipuncture and capillary techniques, and medical, legal and ethical implication of blood collection. Upon successfully completing Phlebotomy I, students will be eligible to enroll in Phlebotomy II. In Phlebotomy II, students will complete an 80-externship at a local healthcare facility under direct supervision.
